01. UVW Unwrapping in 3DS Max

In this lesson we will be focusing on creating a cardboard box with the texture unwrapped on its surface, ready for skinning with a basic bone setup. We will start by creating a single side of the Cardboard Box out of its four sides. Open up the 'Unit Setup' dialogue box from 'Customize' menu and select 'Decimal Feet'.

02. Rigging and Skinning a Cardboard Board Box inside 3DS Max

Open up the file from where we left working on the cardboard box. Select a single side of the cardboard box while deleting rest of the sides. Turn on the 'Percent Snap Toggle' and uniformly scale it up to '1000 %'. Hit 'J' on the keyboard in order to get rid of the 'Bounding Box' that appears on every selected object.

03. Camera Mapping in 3DS Max

In this lesson we are going to look at the camera mapping functions inside 3DS Max. We will learn how to project an image onto a geometry and then creating a 3D camera move inside 3DS Max.

Advanced Character Rigging with DUIK Tools

01          In this lesson we will learn how to Rig a 2D Character with IK inside After Effects. Open the 'Casual Guy 01' After Effects file from the projects folder. The file contains 2 compositions with the side pose and the front pose of the character each having separate layers for each part of the body. The file contains the minimum number of layers possible for rigging a 2D character.

02          We will start rigging process by pinning down the joints of the 'Front Left Arm' layer with the Puppet Tool which can be found on the main tool bar. Before starting the Pinning process make sure that the value of 'Expansion' is set to 1 while the 'Triangles' value is set to 550. With the Puppet tool selected click on the middle of the shoulder to create the 1st Puppet Pin Point, and then on the center of the Elbow, Wrist and Hand for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Puppet Pin Points respectively.

Camera Tracking and Matchmoving in PF Track

01. We will start our work in PFTrack-2011 by creating a project from the 'Project panel' and clicking onto the 'Create' tab. Browse for the desired folder where we want to save our project from the 'Path' column and click 'Choose'. Give the project an appropriate name before clicking 'Confirm'.

02. Last step directly brought us onto Create Panel where we will get all the important options in PFTrack-2012. We have also being presented with the three views on the interface with the 'Tree View' on our left, 'Media Bin' at the middle and 'File Browser' at the right. Browse the files that we want to import to the project from the 'File Browser' panel, and then drag them one by one inside the 'Media Bin' where we can create our own library of footages. Eventually drag n drop the main footage in the 'Tree View' to load the footage into the project.

Introduction to Rigging with DUIK Tools

DUIK Tools helps in easing down the process of animation in After Effects with its easy to use features like Bones, IK and Auto-Rig. DUIK tools provides us the power of animating objects and characters in After Effects using Inverse Kinematics and Bones. It provides us with bone controllers for separate parts of the characters and we can reproduce the exact 3D Program like methods for skinning and rigging of characters in After Effects. DUIK tools also helps us with an IK controller at the end of an arm, or a leg. Now one can animate the entire limb by just modifying the postion of the hand or the foot.
